The United States took home the Presidents Cup, 18.5 to 11.5, with eight of the 12 players on the winning roster gaming a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball. That includes Patrick Cantlay, who earned a team-leading (T1) four points (4-1-0) with his Pro V1x, capped by a 3-and-1 victory in his Sunday singles match. Cantlay, who played all five sessions, finished the week second in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green (+2.54), according to Data Golf.
Nine of the 12 players on the United States had at least one Vokey wedge in the bag, with Vokeys making up 24 of the 35 gap, sand and lob wedges in play for the U.S.
Russell Henley earned 3 points (3-1-0) in his Presidents Cup debut, while leading the event in SG: Putting (+3.87), according to Data Golf. Henley, who games a Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5 tour prototype model, is second this season on the PGA TOUR in 3-Putt Avoidance (0.99%), having recorded just 13 three-putts over 1,314 holes.
Max Homa – playing a Pro V1x golf ball and equipment setup that includes his GT3 driver, blended set of Titleist irons (T100•S/T100/620 MB) and Vokey SM10 wedges – improved his Ryder Cup/President Cup singles record to 3-0-0, gaining an event-best +4.16 strokes tee to green in Sunday singles, according to Data Golf.
Jasmine Suwannapura was in total control of her Pro V1x golf ball Sunday in Arkansas, hitting 12-of-13 fairways and 17-of-18 greens in regulation on her way to a closing 10-under 61, before claiming the victory with an eagle on the second playoff hole.
Suwannapura also eagled the par-5 18th in regulation to shoot a back-nine 28 and force extra holes at 17 under par. In the playoff, she played the same hole in birdie-eagle to earn her third LPGA title. Including the playoff, Suwannapura’s Sunday totalled 20 holes, nine birdies and two eagles.
The winner of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship gamed a NEW Titleist GT2 9.0 driver, averaging 263 yards while hitting 90 percent of her fairways (35 of 39) over the 54 holes of regulation.
From the fairway, she was just as dialled in with her T150 irons and Vokey SM10 pitching wedge, hitting 87 percent (47 of 54) greens in regulation including 17 of 18 GIR on Sunday.
Playing his Pro V1x golf ball, Angel Hidalgo prevailed in extra holes to win his maiden DP World Tour title on home soil. Hidalgo, who posted 14 under for the week at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, made birdie twice in the playoff to clinch the victory.
For the week in his home country, Hidalgo ranked 4th in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (+2.83 per round), with 1.49 of those strokes coming from his approach play (6th). He also ranked T8 in greens in regulation (67%).
