At one of the most prestigious amateur championships in the world - The Amateur Championship, played at Hillside, Titleist was the most played ball, driver, iron, wedge and putter.
- An overwhelming 237 players (83%) are teed up a Titleist golf ball - more than 12 times the nearest competitor.
- The most played driver at The Amateur Championship was Titleist with 42% (121) of competitors gaming a Titleist Driver - 88 of those drivers were the new TSR models.
- On the greens, 95 players trusted a Scotty Cameron putter, the most popular putter at The Amateur Championship.
- FootJoy was the shoe of choice with 191 players (66%) choosing to wear the #1ShoeinGolf
- More than 60% of the field also opted to wear a FootJoy glove
The winner of the 128th Amateur Championship played a NEW Pro V1 golf ball on his way to a 3-and-2 victory in the 36-hole final match.
The 22-year-old South African entered the week 6th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, narrowly advanced through past stroke play before winning each of his seven matches in the knock-out match play format.
With the victory, the champion earns exemptions into the 151st Open Championship in July as well as the 2024 Masters Tournament and the 2024 U.S. Open Championship.
“I'm ecstatic,” he said. “I cannot kind of comprehend my feelings right now...It's amazing to get into The Open. It's probably the biggest kind of milestone I put on myself this year before I turn pro is just to get myself in a major and get that experience. To get into three is pretty amazing.”
Thriston Lawrence (Pro V1) made birdies on Nos. 15 and 17 coming down the stretch to reach 13 under and clinch a one-shot win. Lawrence also trusted FootJoy Premiere Series Packard shoes and StaSof glove en route to the title.
The victory marks Lawrence’s fourth career DPWT title and third in the last 10 months. Weekend rounds of 66-69 separated Lawrence from the chasing pack, with eight players finishing within three shots of the winner. The 26-year-old South African ranked sixth for the week in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green (+2.56 per round) and seventh in SG: Around the Green (+0.93 per round).
Joost Luiten (NEW Pro V1) finished one shot back at 12 under to finish solo second, as eight of the top 11 finishers this week in Germany played a Titleist golf ball.
Padraig Harrington (NEW Pro V1) played his final seven holes Sunday in 7 under, capping off a final round 9-under 63 to win by one shot and defend his title at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open. Harrington, who also trusted the FootJoy Tour Alpha shoes and StaSof glove, went out in 2-under 35, began his run with four birdies in a row from Nos. 12-15 before making an eagle 2 on the 321-yard 16th. Another birdie on the 17th and a par on No. 18 saw Harrington come home in 28 to win his fifth Champions Tour title. The three-time major winner hit 80% of greens in regulation (T8) over the three days.
The winner this week in Endicott, N.Y. claimed his fourth Champions Tour title with his TSR3 9.0 driver in the bag, having picked up three victories in 2022 after putting TSR in play. He ranks second in Driving Distance this season, having placed first in the same category in 2022 with an average of 308.7 yards, more than 10 yards longer than second place.
Zac Blair (Pro V1x) claimed the best finish of his PGA TOUR career, playing his final six holes in 5 under to close in 8-under 62 for a 20 under total, earning him a share of second place.
Blair’s Sunday 62 was the lowest round of the day. The 32-year-old, who was ranked 192nd (out of 194) in driving distance on the PGA TOUR heading into the week, led the final round in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green (+4.117), while missing only one green in regulation. He started the final round tied for 15th place.
For the week, Blair gained more than 10 shots on the field tee to green (+10.781), with more than eight of those gained on approach shots (+6.206) and around the green (+2.665). He led the field in driving accuracy at 85.71% (48/56).
Blair, who is playing on a major medical extension after sitting out most of the last two seasons due to shoulder surgery, entered the week needing just over 270 FedEx Cup points in eight events to keep his TOUR card. After the T2 finish in Hartford, he needs just over 25 points with seven starts remaining. He’s also now 90th in the FedEx Cup standings, jumping from 144th.
Blair was one of five Titleist golf ball players in the final Top 6, including fellow runner-up Brian Harman (Pro V1). Scottie Scheffler (Pro V1), Patrick Cantlay (Pro V1x) and Chez Reavie (Pro V1) tied for fourth.
The T2 finisher with Sunday’s best round (62) at the Travelers Championship had seven Titleist clubs in his bag, including his TSi1 driver, four Vokey Design wedges and Scotty Cameron putter.
