CHAMPION EARNS 10TH PGA TOUR WIN PLAYING A SCOTTY CAMERON

Gaming a Scotty Cameron 009M (center shaft) tour prototype putter that he put in play for the first time this week, The Sentry champion gained over five shots (+5.419/3rd) on the field putting en route to a three-shot win at Kapalua. Averaging nearly 100 feet of putts each day at Kapalua’s Plantation Course (98’/2nd), the champion also ranked 2nd in Putts per GIR (1.56).

A longtime Scotty Cameron player, the 2021 Masters Champion has now won 10 of his 11 PGA TOUR victories using a Scotty Cameron model, including the last six in a row.

He gamed a Scotty Cameron Craftsman tour prototype putter to win last year’s FedEx St. Jude Invitational and won the 2024 Genesis Invitational with a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Timeless GSS tour prototype putter. His Masters victory came with a similar style Newport 2 model.

ÅBERG, CLARK, ZALATORIS MOVE TO 2025 PRO V1X

The tour seeding and validation process for the new 2025 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls picked up where it left off at the RSM Classic in November, with players continuing to make the move to the new models. This week, six more players teed up a 2025 Pro V1 or Pro V1x for the first time in PGA TOUR competition, including Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark and Will Zalatoris, all of whom are Pro V1x players.

Åberg made the move to 2025 Pro V1x after an offseason session with Fordie Pitts, Titleist’s Director of Tour Validation and Research, and further on-course testing at home in Jacksonville.

“Just to tighten that [spin] window a little bit was a big deal with the driver,” Åberg said. “And then I felt like my irons reacted very similar and then just a little bit softer and more spin control I think around the greens. So I'll take that.

“The game at our level is so tight and a good season can be separated by just a couple of points here and there. So if you can find just a little bit that’ll make you a little bit better, a little bit more consistent or a little bit more control, I'm going to be up for it and I think most guys will do too.”

Åberg, who also added a NEW GT2 driver to the bag at The RSM, finished the week at 24 under, good for a T4 finish. He gained strokes on the field off the tee (+1.319/20th), approaching the green (+2.512/14th) and around the green (+0.527/20th).

Will Zalatoris, who hit 63 of 72 greens in regulation (87.5%/T4) this week in Maui, knew he’d be making the move to 2025 Pro V1x shortly after bringing the new model to the course at home in Dallas during the offseason. Months earlier, Zalatoris had hit the final prototypes during a practice round at Bay Hill, with Pitts alongside him taking notes.

“I always love testing, especially at Bay Hill, because Bay Hill we have very firm greens,” Zalatoris said. “You have to be able to hit it high and soft, you've got to be able to hit it low. It's a very demanding full swing golf course. And so I was loving how I was able to see about a mile an hour faster when it came to the driver. I was loving how from the 40- to 60-yard range, I was able to add just a little bit more spin, so if I'm ever trying to hit a very finesse shot to a pin, I know I can stop it immediately as fast as I want.”

“The other thing that we really test is downwind and into the wind,” he said. “Downwind I want to make sure that if I'm, let's say I'm hitting a 9-iron and it's howling downwind and it's going to go 175 yards, I want to know that if I carry it 175, it's not going to roll out to 185. And same thing when it comes to hitting a shot where it's back into the wind. I want to make sure that if I'm hitting at 145, it doesn't get ballooned and go to 135.”

New 2025 Pro V1 and Pro V1x models officially launched on the PGA TOUR at the Shriners Children's Open last October. More than 40 players on the PGA TOUR converted to '25 V or X, and the new models were brought to the winner’s circle twice: at the ZOZO Championship (2025 Pro V1x) and The RSM Classic (2025 Pro V1).

Titleist golf balls continue to be the overwhelming #1 choice of players on the PGA TOUR, with 40 players (68%) this week at Kapalua gaming a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, five times the nearest competitor (8).

Last season on the PGA TOUR, players teed up a Pro V1 and Pro V1x a total of 4,103 times (70%), compared to 649 (11%) for the nearest competitor. Titleist golf ball players accounted for 34 victories, more than six times the nearest competitor’s total number of wins (5).

Also making key equipment moves were Titleist Brand Ambassadors Wyndham Clark and Russell Henley, as well as the winner of the 2024 Wyndham Championship, each of whom started the 2025 season with NEW GT drivers in the bag. The Wyndham Championship winner, who arrived at Kapalua currently ranked No. 22 in the Official World Golf Ranking and led the TOUR last year in Driving Accuracy, switched from a competitive brand into his new GT2 model.

Wyndham Clark: GT3 10.0 driver | HZRDUS Smoke Green 60 6.5 TX

Russell Henley: GT3 10.0 driver | HZRDUS Smoke Black 70 6.5 TX

2024 Wyndham Championship winner: GT2 9.0 driver | Aldila Synergy Blue Prototype 70 TX

Clark finished the week 6th in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee (+3.683), while also leading the field in Driving Distance (296.70 yards). The Wyndham Championship winner led the field in Driving Accuracy (83%/50/60) while gaining over two shots on the field off the tee (2.068/13th). Henley hit 48 of 60 fairways (80%), good for T4 in the field.

Titleist was the most played driver on the PGA TOUR for the sixth straight season last year, with Titleist drivers being used 2,193 times over the campaign (37%). The nearest competitor was played 1,317 times (22%).

This week at Kapalua, 25 competitors (42%) had a Titleist driver in the bag, compared to the nearest competitor with 14 (24%).
