Titleist Tour Report: 12.15.24

PGA TOUR | PGA TOUR Q-School

With everything on the line Sunday in Ponte Vedra, Titleist Brand Ambassador Lanto Griffin – gaming a setup that included his NEW 2025 Pro V1 golf ball and NEW GT2 10.0 driver – responded with the best round of the day at TPC Sawgrass’ Dye Valley, a bogey-free 63 that earned him a decisive three-shot victory and his 2025 PGA TOUR card.

The 36-year-old, who in 2022 had surgery to repair a ruptured disc in his lower back, hit 15 greens in regulation Sunday while getting up-and-down the other three times. With his 2025 Pro V1 and Vokey SM10 wedges, Griffin led the field in Scrambling at 80 percent (20 of 25).

Griffin was one of four Titleist golf ball players to earn their ‘25 cards, with three of them gaming NEW 2025 models (see note below).

“From a getting the ball in the hole, staying patient, battling some really tough conditions, since my back surgery I’d say it's probably (the best golf I've played in recent years),” Griffin said after the round.”

“The majority of golfers have one-year contracts and it's a nerve-wracking thing to think about when your livelihood's on the line. At this point in my career, just post surgery – playing on a medical’s really tough. It’s hard having a certain amount of starts and coming back – I came back too early, I came back probably six months too early. I didn’t know it at the time, I thought I was healthy and I wasn’t. So this is kind of a fresh start for me. I still can't believe what happened today just thinking about the fact that I’ll be able to play on Tour again is insane.

MATTHEW RIEDEL MOVES TO 2025 PRO V1x GOLF BALL, EARNS PGA TOUR CARD

Ahead of one of the most pressure-packed events of his young career, Titleist Brand Ambassador Matthew Riedel made the move to the NEW 2025 Titleist Pro V1x golf ball at this week’s Q-School's Final Stage before going on to earn his 2025 PGA TOUR card.

Riedel, who graduated from Vanderbilt University earlier this year and finished No. 4 on the PGA TOUR University’s rankings, began testing the 2025 Pro V1x at home following the end to the Korn Ferry Tour’s season. On Thursday at Dye’s Valley, he teed up the new model for the first time with his sights set on PGA TOUR status.

Over the first three rounds this week, Riedel was the only player to post scores in the 60’s each day, in complete control of his golf ball despite difficult, windy conditions.

“Yeah, I love wind,” said Riedel after Saturday’s round, when asked if he prefers tough conditions. “If you can kind of turn on the wind, I like to play well in that and kind of shape some shots.”

On Sunday, Riedel needed to play his final three holes in 1 under or better to secure his TOUR card. He stuck a wedge in close on 16, setting up a tap-in birdie, and then made two clutch up-and-downs for par on Nos. 17 and 18 to lock up TOUR status for next season.

Riedel was one of four Titleist ball players to earn their PGA TOUR cards on Sunday, with three of those players gaming NEW 2025 models:

1. Lanto Griffin: NEW 2025 Pro V1 golf ball

2. Runner-up: NEW 2025 Pro V1x golf ball

T4. Matthew Riedel: NEW 2025 Pro V1x golf ball

In total, 126 players (74%) at Q-School teed up a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x model, more than seven times the nearest competitor (17/10%).
