The No. 2 player in the Official World Golf Ranking has won two of his last three starts since adding a new Vokey Design SM10 WedgeWorks Low Bounce K lob wedge (58.06K at 59 degrees) to his setup. He made the switch to the Low Bounce K at the RBC Heritage. After claiming the Zurich Classic the very next week, he won this week at the Wells Fargo while finishing 2nd in Scrambling (17/23, 74%).
On Sunday at Quail Hollow, after using his Vokey lob wedge to get up-and-down from the front left greenside bunker for birdie on the par-4 14th, the champion faced another difficult bunker shot on the next hole, this time 34 feet from the hole. He pulled his Low Bounce K wedge and holed the shot for eagle.
The Low Bounce K, born out of Master Craftsman Bob Vokey and longtime Vokey tour representative Aaron Dill’s collaboration with players on the PGA TOUR and across the worldwide professional tours, features 6 degrees of bounce. This gives players the versatility required to open the face and hit higher, softer shots off tight lies around the green while offering forgiveness out of the bunker due to the grind’s sole width.
More information on the Low Bounce K can be found here.
Doug Barron (Pro V1 Yellow) earned his first career PGA Tour Champions major and third Champions Tour title with a two-shot victory at Greystone Golf and Country Club. Barron shot a bogey-free final round 68 to post 17 under for the week. He ranked first in Scrambling, getting his Pro V1 Yellow up-and-down 10 of 13 attempts (77%) and T2 in Greens in Regulation (59/72, 82%).
Hyo-Joo Kim (Pro V1x) won by three shots on home soil, adding a first LET title to her previous 21 professional victories. Kim posted a three-round total of 10 under which was good for a three-shot margin of victory.
