CARLSBAD, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2024) – In addition to his 2024 lineup of new Phantom mallets, Scotty Cameron introduces two new Long Design models for players seeking to stabilize their stroke with a balanced, more connected feel when gripping and manipulating the putter.
Crafted specifically at 38 inches with stiffer, custom shafts and heavier heads using tungsten sole weights, the new Phantom 11 Long Design and Super Select Squareback 2 Long Design putters help quiet the player’s hands and engage the shoulders for enhanced stability in the putting stroke. The increase in overall length and weight, coupled with a heavier, longer grip, keeps the putter in balance, while the entire stroke is slowed down.
“Most of the discussions we’re having with players these days are either about new alignment features or finding ways to quiet their hands during the putting stroke. We took two of our most popular models — the Super Select Squareback 2 and Phantom 11 — and created a counterbalanced effect with a slightly longer shaft, a heavier head and a heavier grip. This helps the player engage the larger shoulder muscles in the stroke. It’s a concept we’ve developed over the years working with touring professionals that can benefit players everywhere.”
- CUSTOM 17-INCH 135-GRAM GRIP: Made especially for the Long Design models, the 135-gram, non-tapered 17-inch grip allows for softer grip pressure and controlled hand movement with more weight to counterbalance the increased putter head weight.
- CUSTOM STIFFER SHAFTS: Designed for stability and forgiveness, the stiffer, longer version of Scotty’s mid-bend shaft accommodates the heavier head weight of the Phantom 11 Long Design, while the custom shaft made for the Super Select Squareback 2 Long Design complements the model’s plumbing neck.
- HEAVIER SOLE WEIGHTS: Each Long Design putter incorporates interchangeable 25-gram tungsten sole weights.
The new Long Design models can be ordered in custom lengths from 36-inches to 40-inches for ultimate player flexibility. Each putter features the Super Select and Phantom lines’ multi-material construction, dual-milled face technology and refined aesthetics.
- Super Select Squareback 2 Long Design: With a solid milled face and an integrated 6061 aluminum sole plate, the Super Select Squareback 2 Long Design features the same wider-bodied, angular mid-mallet head shape of the Super Select Squareback 2 but incorporates the Long Design tungsten sole weights, heavy grip and custom shaft.
- Phantom 11 Long Design: Designed with the same head shape of the new Phantom 11 and 11.5 models, the high-MOI Phantom 11 Long Design offers enhanced arrow alignment features that complement its heavier head and custom grip and shaft build.
New Scotty Cameron Super Select Squareback 2 Long Design and Phantom 11 Long Design models will be available in golf shops worldwide on May 17, 2024. MAP: $499
