Ending a marathon nine-hole playoff, Celine Boutier stuck her Pro V1x golf ball to six feet and rolled in the birdie to earn her fourth LPGA win of the season and move to the top of the Rolex Player of the Year standings. The Frenchwoman made eight birdies with no bogeys in regulation Sunday at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club to card the lowest round of the day by two shots (64), forcing extra holes at 21 under. After matching her opponent on the first eight extra holes, Boutier broke the deadlock with a dart on the par-3 15th.
Boutier’s victory marks her sixth career LPGA title and third in three months, including her maiden major championship at the Amundi Evian Championship over the summer.
The LPGA’s Alison Lee (Pro V1) shot rounds of 61-61-65 to win her second LET title in runaway fashion, posting 29 under to break the previous 54-hole scoring record by five. Lee, who opened the week with back-to-back 11-under 61’s, made seven birdies in her closing 65 to win by eight shots. The 28-year-old went the entire week without making a bogey, becoming just the second player in LET history to win without giving up a shot.
Team South Korea won the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship by four shots, posting 22 under for the week in Abu Dhabi. Each of the three South Korean competitors played a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball and 14 Titleist clubs, including TSR drivers and fairways, NEW T-Series irons, Vokey SM9 wedges and Scotty Cameron putters.
