Titleist Introduces NEW Velocity Golf Balls

New high-speed construction unlocks more distance from tee to green

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (Jan. 21, 2026) — The new Titleist Velocity golf balls are engineered to deliver longer distance off the tee, lower long-game spin, a more penetrating flight and reliable greenside spin, unlocking improved performance through advancements to every layer of the golf ball.

Now available in golf shops worldwide, the new Velocity features a high-speed construction that increases distance from tee to green through the following key innovations:

• A faster cover and softer core formulation work together to reduce spin in the long game and deliver increased distance;

• An improved 350 octahedral dimple design delivers a more piercing ball flight with lower peak height. 

Velocity’s DNA has always centered around maximizing tee-to-green distance. The focus for Titleist Golf Ball R&D with the new 2026 Velocity model was to help golfers gain even more distance by targeting spin and trajectory. 

“There are a lot of reasons why golfers choose to play Velocity. Consistency and durability are high on the list, but distance is really the top priority for these players,” said Frederick Waddell, Titleist’s Director of Golf Ball Product Management. “It’s not just distance off the tee either. They’re looking for every yard possible through the bag to help them shoot lower scores.” 

To drive down spin in the long game, Titleist engineers started by reducing the overall compression of Velocity through a softer core formulation. A firmer ionomer cover formulation further lowered spin while adding ball speed, translating to even more distance.

“Whenever you make compression go down, all things equal, that’s going to bring spin down in the long game,” said Mike Madson, Senior Vice President of Titleist Golf Ball R&D. “We coupled that with a slightly firmer ionomer cover to add speed and further decrease spin in the long game. So you get that double shot of lower spin off the tee along with a faster cover, all contributing to more distance.” 

Next, the team zeroed in on Velocity’s trajectory. Through edge angle and depth changes, Titleist engineers refined the design of Velocity’s 350 octahedral pattern to bring the ball flight down slightly, delivering a more penetrating flight that provides additional distance while maintaining ample stopping power into greens.

Every single Titleist golf ball, from Pro V1 to TruFeel, features its own unique dimple design to ensure optimal performance and hit the desired flight window for that model to maximize distance and consistency.
